Stylish Sunday & My Favourite Links

Hello to you all on this lovely Sunday evening.  We have been out shopping today and although I feel guilty spending lots of money, I am also feeling very pleased with my purchases which have been long overdue.  I have had so many of my clothes for such a long time.  Particularly staple items like strap tops which I wear under most thing.  After a year of being tugged at by a little boy and the several years they were worn before that it's time for a clear out.

Stylish Sunday - Toddler Bedroom

Inspired by the fact we are currently selling our house I have put together a few items that I would love to use to create a wonderful new bedroom for Nye.  I started the design with the wallpaper I spotted at Ferm Living  a few weeks ago, and worked from there on a scheme that included grey with orange pops.  Enjoy!

Stylish Sunday - Keeping it simple

We have been in Brighton all day today so this post comes to you from a very happy, but exhausted from the sea air, me.  We spent a good while on the beach enjoying the warm sunshine and the glorious sound of the waves crashing on the pebbles.  Nye was allured by the noise and movement and once he'd mastered walking on uneven cobbles he was away.  Apparently the quickest way to the sea from the beach is reverse crawling.

The lure of the lovely shops also left their impression on me, as I find myself reminiscing back to the Hobbs window display.  Now back at home the website will have to suffice

Here are a few of my favourite pieces.

Stlish Sunday - Swim Wear

Firstly I must apologise for my blogging absence these last few weeks.  I think house rennovations have got on top of me somewhat  and time has sped by like a whirlwind.  I've been rushing around every nap time to clear up every last piece of clutter and dust and have barely had time to notice that my phone has been broken after its swift dip in a cup of tea.  Today we remedied the lack of phone with a quick trip to the shopping centre.

As the sun has been shining almost non stop this weekend it's time for me to start thinking about spending more time outside, and then about swimming costumes.   Here are my favourite picks of the moment including some bikinis I love (but wouldn't dare to wear) and even some maternity options.   I hope it gives you all some ideas.

Do you have any favourite swimming picks at the moment?

Stylish Sunday - Leafy Living Room

Happy Easter Sunday everyone.

We have awoken today to some more beautiful sunshine.  Of course it is still rather chilly but it has still signalled that we can head out to to the Garden Centre and buy a few things.  I think yesterday must have been my cheapest ever trip there as there were lots of reduced plants and 15% off everything on top. Hurrah.

Following on from last weeks Stylish Sunday post, I thought I would tackle another room in my house.  This week I must admit I havent been quite so budget friendly.  However, in an ideal world I think this collection would look rather quaint. It's inspired by our current living room colour scheme. So this is how I'd update our current look if I had a few pounds to invest.

Stylish Sunday

Oh Spring where are you? I can't see you for all the snow!  I'm sitting at my desk staring out across our garden and all I can see is the brown branches of winter with a sprinkling of snow which is slowly melting into the ground.  Hopefully before we know it the sun will arrive and my daffodils won't look quite so droopy.

As ever our house renovations continue. The brief is, try to make things looks fresh and neat for as little as possible.  We painted our bedroom is a lovely Duck Egg Blue the night we moved in (nearly 3 years ago) and I do still love the colour.  It's bright but also relaxing, an unusual choice for me because I wouldn't normally go for blue.  I think it could do with a few finishing touches to make it look inviting and this is what I'd get if I didn't have an entire house to neaten up.

My absolute favourite's here is the bedding which is £20 (Ikea) the Lamp £9.09 (Dunelm Mill) and the side table £20 (Ikea). I think everything else works really well together.  We don't have any wallpaper in our house but this would look awesome in an alcove.

DIY Lego Cufflinks - SuperScrimper Fashion Tips

You will need:
  • Lego bricks, figures or anything that takes your fancy
  • Cuff link backs, (Ebay is a good place to find them)
  • Glue that bonds Metal to plastic (This glue is good)
The possibilities are endless with these lego cufflinks. Simply find some blank cuff link backs, raid the lego stash and glue them on. You'll need to leave them overnight to dry but they will be ready the next morning.

You can make something personalised by making your own lego figure at one of the lego shops/online, or for something a little more subtle choose lego bricks instead.  That's not to say that lego is your only option, using old scrabble tiles would be fantastic as a gift, and much cheaper than the ones available.  For inspiration try raiding a car boot sale for scrabble, Cluedo or Monopoly sets!

Thanks for dropping by, do let me know how you get on.

Stylish Sunday

Happy Mothers Day Everyone!  This is my second mothers day and I think it is becoming one of my favourite days of the year.  Especially as it comes just as Spring is breaking and all the gorgeous daffodils are in bloom.  Today I had a lovely card scribbled on in orange marker pen by my wonderful boy and raspberry pancakes for breakfast.

I've even been given a little time to myself and I have been thinking of giving myself a little treat. Things this week have been so busy for us and are set to get busier as house renovations near completion.  The To Do list I showed you all those weeks ago.

Here's a selection of the utterly wonderful work of Frinn. Enjoy!

p.s don't forget SuperScrimpers will be on again tomorrow.  None of my tips were included last week, but I'm hoping for better luck this week!

SuperScrimpers Stylish Sunday

I am so excited to confirm that from tomorrow (Monday 4th March) I will be providing thrifty fashion tips on the new series of SuperScrimpers.  The first episode airs at 8.30pm on Channel 4 and  I have filmed 9 tips and they will be dotted throughout each week.

I am slightly terrified how all the filming will turn out, but also excited to see what other tips the other scrimpers have come up with.  My tips range from updating old t-shirts with stuff you have lying around to keeping up to date with recent fashion trends.  I really hope you enjoy watching and have a go at some of the tips I've come up with.  As the tips are aired (I have no idea what order they will appear) I will post up some tutorials for you to refer back to.

So, with updating and thrifting in mind I thought I would put together some of the things I have which I use to update items I already have.  These should also give you a peek into a few things that are coming up on Superscrimpers!

Stylish Sunday - Birthday Treats

February 2013

This week saw the arrival of my 25th birthday.  Neil had been asking me what I wanted for some time but I kept changing my mind which meant that on the day I got a trip up the Shard and a meal out, which I loved.  For most of the day Nye and I were doing some filming in North London with Startrite and as that was wrapped up we headed into central London to meet Neil.  I've not had much time for shopping recently, or cash, but I really am feeling I need some new items to bulk up my post baby wardrobe.  I'm particularly in need of some comfy but smart looking flats.  I've been scowering Ebay but found these fab ones from New look on ASOS.  All the details of the items I've selected are below or just click on the board itself.

Stylish Sunday - Wedding Edition

As I was browsing the internet this week I discovered that TK Maxx now have a dedicated online wedding boutique full of wide rang of items.  I got my wedding dress on Ebay for £100 and I was very lucky that it turned out as I ordered with only a few alterations required.  However, as it nears two year since our big day there are so many places I would look  now to seek out an amazing dress for a great price.

I am a big fan of the Oxfam Wedding Shops.  I only found out about them and how amazing they are just a few weeks before our wedding where I tracked down a veil for the big day.  I went to the shop in Leatherhead and I had to book an appointment just like a proper wedding dress shop.  But, this meant I had the bridal area (the upper floor) to myself and the full attention of a member of staff.  It was whilst I was there that the lady told me that many of the dresses come directly from the designers and therefore are in perfect condition.

Another great find has been TK Maxx where the online store makes it easy to track down items that would suit any wedding.  As I browsed I thought it might be quite fun to put together some budget options for weddings that still look unique, classical and stylish.  I hope you like!

Stylish Sunday

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by on this cool February afternoon. Today I've put together a wonderful collection of items that I'm loving right now.  If I were to go out in this outfit I'd definitely need a coat, but apart from that I'd be smitten with the stuff below.  Especially the price as most of it is stonkingly good value.  Let me know if you see anything you like or there's anything you're loving that you'd like to share.

As always you can check out this set of items and all my other beloved products on my Polyvor profile.  I adore Polyvor and couldn't be without it as it makes making mood boards so very easy.  Why not give it a go and see how you get on.

P.s breakdown of all the items I've used can be seen below.
